Transforming Power
Actively Engaged for the World
Through the water of baptism we are transformed by God’s love made known to us in Scripture. Freed by God’s love, we are connected in Christian community around the world.
The world is changing, and we as a Lutheran communion are called to act in response.
Our faithful response to God’s love cannot settle for the status quo, which so often supports ways of injustice and oppression. We seek a faith that is actively engaged for the sake of the world.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:17)
In Christ, we have been freed by God’s love to change the world.
God’s promise of a new life empowers us to create new ways of being a church. Scripture and our Lutheran heritage tell us that reformation is never finished: A reformed church must always be reforming.
As Martin Luther said:
A Christian is the most free, lord of all, subject to none - and a Christian is the most dutiful servant of all, and subject to all. (Freedom of a Christian)

I am freed from fear to worship and serve God with no hesitation about what people say. I’m freed from culture and doctrine which make people believe that elders are always right. We are all the body of Christ and we are all free to serve God through teaching others. I’m freed from age limitations, gender and social standards to do what’s right in the eyes of God. God asked whom to send? And I replied: “Here I am! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)
