Virtual Conference on Reformation Day 2014
The Global Young Reformers Network is a group of young Lutherans gathered from all parts of the world to build a strong network created by young people for young people. This network is built for growing up the participation of youth and to ensure that young people have a place and a voice in all aspects of church and communion life, including decision making and leadership. The members of this network are young people who have nominated by each Lutheran churches surround the world including HKI, HKBP, GKPI, GKPS, BNKP, GKPPD, GKPA, AMIN, GPP, ONKP, GKLI, and others from Indonesia. All of the members are expected to share their stories, their dreams in their local context. We came from different parts or maybe different doctrines of Christianity but rejoice in plurality without being vague.
On 31st October in Reformation day, we already had a virtual conference with the theme: “Freed’s by God’s Love to change the world”.

In the postmodern era, we use technology to support our mission, to reach the people whereever we are. There was a question I was asked: “As a young Lutheran, what are you freed from? And what are you freed for?"
I my self said: I am freed from “hopelessness”. Looking back to my context in North Sumatera, Indonesia that many young people got hopeless when bad things happened. Those caused because broken love, broken home, jobless, money, and many others. Some of them even doing “suicide”.

As a young Lutheran I am reminded of what God said in book of Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, said the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of Evil, to give you an expected end”.
Daniel Sinaga from HKBP said “I am freed for doing good work”.
We had a worship and listened our virtual choir (we already sang together Taize song “Bless the Lord my soul”) in that day. There were some speakers who shared their ideas about the reformation day and how do we want to see the church in 2017 and beyond 2017.
The virtual conference concluded that “We as young people want to be the life of the church”. This is the website you can join with and create more ideas to be young reformers.
