LWF Delegation to UN COP 26

UN Conference of Parties (COP) 26

Since 2011, Youth have led LWF Conference of Parties (COP) delegations and they are leading climate justice projects all over the world, focusing on the importance of taking care of the creation, intergenerational justice, how to participate in climate national processes like National Determined Contributions - NDC, promoting reforestation in their own communities and gathering ideas for climate justice engagement on carbon neutrality.

COP 26 in Glasgow, Scotland was a combination of in person and online.

We had 32 LWF delegates to COP 26 who are youth!

Sign the Global Action and Prayer Chain for Climate Justice Petition

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF), with the Global Action and Prayer Chain for Climate Justice, https://www.prayandact4climate.org/ calls on governments to ramp up their efforts and commitments to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

LWF member churches and individuals were invited to sign a petition addressed to the UN climate summit. It was delivered in Glasgow in November.

“The climate crisis is already affecting millions of people. As people of faith, we stand with the most vulnerable and advocate for their human rights and the care for creation worldwide,” said Elena Cedillo, LWF Program Executive for Climate Justice.

Most of the finance is put into mitigation, some into adaptation, but very little into loss and damage, even though “that's where the people are". Photo: LWF/Albin Hillert)
