We Are Online!
Dear Global Young Reformers,
This is an important day!
It is the day of launching the online network of the “LWF Global Young Reformers” at www.youngreformers.net (easy to remember: global/www +youngreformers+ net/work) This is your space to meet, discuss, be informed Lutherans and become Lutheran communion. I invite you to discover it, use it and make it your own!
Visibility and Youth Participation
Some years ago, the youth delegates of the Eleventh LWF assembly delivered the following message about their priorities:
“We young people offer our enthusiasm, energy and networking skills, to assist in raising the profile and visibility of the LWF. We want to be part of a better two-way communication between the LWF and the churches, the congregations and the wider society. We ask only for the opportunity and the forums to do this.”
Since then, we were asking and brainstorming: How can the LWF build up a forum like this? They also asked for the resource and information sharing to do so:
“In order to be active and constructive participants in the life of this communion, young Lutherans must be given the opportunities, resources and information to better understand the LWF structures and processes.”
Today we launch the Global young Reformers Website and its Social Network and we hope it will open new ways of engagement of Lutheran youth worldwide and build opportunities to reflect, connect and act together.
Welcome to this journey!
We will together jump into this new experience, a unique and historical meeting of hundreds and later on thousands of young Lutherans who are committed to their church and curious to get to know the global communion. Are you excited? Do you want to start? Sign up right away to our social network and create your profile by sharing what you are „Freed from…“ or what you are „Freed to…“ by being Lutheran.
You are only visible if you are active
“You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say” Martin Luther
Social networking is impossible without active users. Working and communicating in this network is something that you can learn easily and improve day by day. The seven steering committee members will moderate the discussions and help you find your way.
Be personal and have an opinion
Being personal means not being afraid of telling your opinion. Certainly, people differ in how they voice their opinion. But don’t be too hesitant. The readers want to know what you think about what you write.
The work of a dozen for a network of thousands
Many people from different continents have worked on this website: through contributing pictures, texts, design, technical support and team-brainstorming on how to make it the best and most user-friendly experience for you all. Should you have any question or feedback to improve the site: We will be pleased to hear from you.
Let us be joyful!
It is great to read todays Moravian Daily Text, that says
“Let the righteous be joyful; let them exult before God; let them be jubilant with joy.” Psalm 68:3
With these words I invite you to share your joys and your sorrows, be and become Lutheran community and start using www.youngreformers.net from today on!
Yours, In Christ
